Breaking Up is Hard To Do

We picked Libby Anne's daycare way back when very few people even knew I was pregnant. Good in-home daycare is hard to find around here so we started our search very early on.

When we found K, we were super excited. She seemed like the perfect fit for us. Her location was great - about a mile from my office (which closed on me while I was out on maternity leave) and on the way to Rick's work. She was energetic, happy, super sweet, and enthusiastic. She had lots of experience and came very highly recommended. What more could we ask for?

On Libby Anne's first day, we immediately noticed that there were A LOT of children there when we dropped off and picked up. K told us she kept 4 or 5 other kids, but we counted as many as 12 other kids at one time (and there could have been more that we just couldn't see from the door). We were extremely concerned, because how could any one person possibly care for 12 toddlers and one infant by herself? We gave it a couple days, trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, but she continued to have way too many children there.

Over the four days we had Libby Anne in daycare with K, we had other concerns in addition to the number of children. So we "broke up" with K. We made the decision to remove Libby Anne from K's and start searching for another option because we just weren't comfortable or confident that Libby Anne was receiving all the attention she needed.

It was very difficult for us because we think K is a nice, great lady... But we have to trust our instincts and make sure Libby Anne is properly cared for. Needless to say, it has been very stressful and it was making me have an even more difficult time leaving Libby Anne to go to work.

Yesterday Rick and I met with Mrs. C, who was recommended by one of Rick's friends. She only cares for 3 other kids and just happened to have an opening on the days we need her starting next week. She has lots of experience and seems like a wonderful lady. Libby Anne seemed to approve of Mrs C and was perfectly content in her arms.

Libby Anne starts with Mrs. C on Wednesday. We are praying that things go much better and Libby Anne is happy and well taken care of with Mrs. C.
