12 weeks

How big is baby?: the size of a plum

Maternity clothes?: I have a couple pairs of pants that I have used, but I am still wearing mostly my own clothes. I have lost 7.5 lbs but my pants are tight.

Sleep?: I tend to wake up around 3:00 or 3:30am and struggle to get back to sleep. It has been rough.

Best moment this week?: seeing our little peanut at our ultrasound and starting to share our wonderful news

Food cravings: none

Food aversions?: Everything? I am still struggling to find things to eat that don't make me feel even more sick.

Gender?: We have about 10 more weeks before we find out.

Movement?: I can't feel anything yet.

Belly button?: no change

Symptoms?: Nauseous 24/7 but it is usually worse in the afternoons and evenings, I burp a lot (gross), constipation (eek), and as of last night at 11w6d I threw up too (disgusting).

What do I miss?: not feeling sick

What I'm looking forward to this week?: continuing to share the news with our family and close friends

Milestones?: The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby's fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won't be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.

Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby's brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long and weighs half an ounce.
